No patent and no exam, but registration, the medical examination and fingerprinting are mandatory — and that is exactly where EAEU citizens most often lose money.
For citizens of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan the rules are simpler. Below is what applies to you and what doesn't.
Migration registration. Mandatory even without a patent. The deadline is 30 days from the day of entry for Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, 90 days for Belarus. The host files it.
Medical examination. From 1 September 2026 the obligation applies to every foreign citizen staying in Russia longer than 90 days, EAEU citizens included. The deadline is 30 calendar days from the day of entry, then every year. The fine for avoiding it is 25,000 to 50,000 ₽, possibly with removal from the country.
Fingerprinting. A federal obligation that does not depend on citizenship: 30 days from the day of entry.
The employment contract and checking the employer. You work under a contract, so everything about drawing it up and about the employer's reliability applies to you in full.
The time you have to find a new job and the rules for your stay during that period depend on your situation, and a mistake with this deadline costs you the legality of your stay. This is a case where half an hour of consultation is worth it.
The right to work without a patent — the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union. The medical examination — Federal Law No. 162-FZ of 10.06.2026, the fine — Article 18.11.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences (KoAP). Registration — Federal Law 109-FZ and bilateral agreements.
